UMass Boston High School AI Summer Program by Paul English Applied AI Institute
Time limit: 10 days
Full course description
The Paul English Applied AI Institute (PEAAII) at UMass Boston is proud to launch its inaugural AI Summer Research Camp for high school students, running from August 4 to August 22, 2025. This three-week program reflects PEAAII’s commitment to educational equity and community impact by introducing young minds to the transformative world of artificial intelligence. Each student will be paired with a UMass Boston faculty mentor and immersed in hands-on AI research projects covering areas such as machine learning, robotics, cybersecurity, health applications, and AI ethics. In addition to their research work, students will participate in weekly Friday gatherings that feature peer presentations, guest talks from industry and academia, and live showcases of UMass Boston’s cutting-edge AI research facilities. Rooted in the spirit of AI for Everyone, the camp empowers students—regardless of background or prior experience—to explore how AI can be understood, applied, and innovated for the benefit of all. No programming experience is required—only curiosity, motivation, and a desire to learn. By engaging high school students early, PEAAII aims to nurture a diverse and inclusive new generation of AI thinkers, problem-solvers, and ethical innovators.
